First Hotel Hendersons City

Fashioned from a 1900 landmark stone building, this historical treasure has been beautifully restored into a luxury boutique hotel of the highest caliber with 53 elegant rooms. The old bank building has been fully renovated while carefully preserving its historical architecture.

The building’s history dates back to 1868 when Haugesund Sparebank opened its doors on Stranggates 161. Over the years, the savings bank grew in size and required larger premises. Rahn and Glosimodt, two architects from Kristiania (Oslo’s old name), won the architectural competition. The building process took three and a half years and was completed on the 29th of December 1919.
